إن علم أصول الفقه علم عظيم النفع جليل القدر، اعتنى العلماء به عناية كاملة، وقد تنوعت عبارة الفضلاء العلماء في التعبير عن هذا الفن ما بين مختصر ومبسوط، ومن أهم ما ألف في هذا الباب مما جمع بين المزايا والفضائل والفواضل المتقنة، والفوائد المحررة والمدارس المختلفة جمع الجوامع الذي ذكر مصنفه أنه جمعه من أكثر من مائة مصنف، وهومع صغر حجمه فقد جمع معظم مسائل الفن ومذاهب الأئمة فيها بطريقة مهذبة مرتبة محررة، وقد كثرت الشروح عليه - وقد أفردنا بابا لهذا - ومن أفضل الشروح عليه عبارة وتحقيقاُ وتدقيقاً شرح الخطيب الشربيني لما يمتاز به من سهولة العبارة.
ولقد من الله تعالى علي بأن حزت ثلاث مخطوطات لهذا الكتاب مما ومعنى للمساءلة لتحقيقه ودراسته والتتبع لعبارته، وقد قسمت الكتاب في التحقيق والدراسة إلى قسمين:-
الأول: الدراسي وهو يشتمل على ثلاثة فصول "الأول: التعريف بالخطيب الشربيني، والفصل الثاني: تاريخ ونشأة أصول الفقه، والفصل الثالث: التعريف بصاحب الجمع وعناية العلماء بجمع الجوامع"، وقد قام فضيلة الشيخ: علي سعيد الأزهري بكتابة القسم الدراسي فقد أجاد وأفاد، بارك الله تعالى فيه، وجعل هذا العمل في ميزان حسانته.
القسم الثاني: القسم التحقيقي، وهو يشتمل على النص المحقق.
