في هذا الكتاب ثلاثة مباحث تتعلق بمجمل أوزان الشعر النبطي، هي:
1-المبحث الأول: أصول الأوزان النبطية وروافدها، وفيه صنّف المؤلف هذه الأوزان إلى أوزان موافقة الأوزان عروض الفصحى، وأخرى مستمدة من الأوزان العربية المهملة والمقلوبة، وثالثة منحدرة من الألحان والشلاّت الغنائية الدارجة في الفنون الشعبية الموروثة للمجتمع.
2-المبحث الثاني: تطرق فيه الكاتب إلى أوزان الشعر النبطي المستحدثة، التي لا نظائر لها في عروض الفصحى، بل هي من إبتكارات الشعراء النبطيين، وذهب بنا إلى أساليبهم في الإستحداث وأنماطه المتنوعة.
3-المبحث الثالث: بينّ فيه الكاتب، بأسلوب الإستقراء والإستخلاص، العوامل اللغوية الرئيسة المساعدة، التي تتيحها اللهجات العامية، وتفيد الشاعر على إقامة وزنه وقوافيه في الشعر النبطي.
