يهدف ما ذكر فى هذه المحاضرة التى ألقيت فى 9 فبراير 2010 بالكولاج دى فرانس ونشرت فى الذكرى الثلاثين لوفاة الكاتب إلى قراءة هذا النص الذى يستعصى على التصنيف فى ضوء العبارة الشهيرة للكاتب موريس بلانشو "الأدب والحق فى الموت" يقترح إيريك بارت متخذا الأسئلة التالية نقطة للبداية : ماذا يحق لى؟ ماذا يسمح لى بكتابته؟ ويرى مارتى أن هذه المذكرات لايمكن أن توجد إلا "بعد وفاة الكاتب" لأن الكتابة تمت فى حياة الكاتب على هامش العمل ، فهمى تقترب جدا من هذا "الحق فى الموت" -الغامض البعيد- وهو يحاول مارتى أن يستكشفه ويخبرنا به.
