يعد هذا الكتاب أول أنطولوجيا شاملة بالعربية عن الشعر الكولومبي حيث تعطي هذه المختارات صورة وافية عن الشعر في كولومبيا، باعتباره أحد أهم أبرز الفنون التي تنتجها هذه الثقافة كماً ونوعاً، فثمة العديد من الأجيال والتيارات والأسماء الشعرية التي ظهرت فيها على امتداد قرن كامل ومن بينها أسماء بارزة تنحدر من أصول عربية.
يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة تعريفية عن مسيرة ومراحل الأدب الكولومبي عموماً والشعر بشكل خاص كونه يمثل انعكاساً لصورة مسيرة ثقافة وأمة بكاملها، فيعطي لمحات عن هذا الشعر بما تضمنه من أجيال وجماعات ابتداءً من مرحلة التأسيس وصولاً إلى الوقت الحاضر.
يضم الكتاب أكثر من مائة قصيدة من أعمال 35 شاعراً تم اختيارهم بعناية وتقديم نبذة تعريفية موجزة عن كل واحد منهم، أعدها وترجمها الكاتب والمترجم والأكاديمي العراقي د. محسن الرملي، وهو متخصص باللغة والآداب الإسبانية وتربطه علاقات مباشرة وشخصية بالوسط الشعري الكولومبي كما أنه أحد أعضاء هيئة تحرير مجلة (آركيترابه) الشعرية الكولومبية المعروفة.
