هذه الدراسة التي أقدمها للمكتبة العربية بعنوان: "تنبيهات على ابن حمزة على ما في الغريب المصنف من أغلاط- تحليل ونقد- قائمة على النظر والتدقيق فيما نبه إليه العالم النحرير والرواية المنطيق "علي بن حمزة البصري ت 375 هـ" من أغلاط حسبها وقعت في كتاب الغريب المصنف لأبي عبيد القاسم بن سلام الخزاعي أو الأزدي ت 244 هـ المعدود في الطبقة الثالثة من اللغويين الكوفيين ولعل من المفيد هنا أن أكشف للقارئ عما كنت قد نويته في أول الأمر، وهو أن أتناول بالدراسة جملة الأغاليط على الكتب الخمسة "الكامل للمبرد- والفصيح لثعلب- والمصنف لأبي عيد والإصلاح لإبن السكيت- والمقصور والممدود لابن ولاد"، فوجدت أن منهج الرجل الثابت ومتكرر في تناول أغليط الكتب الخمسة، مما يعني أن كشف القناع عن تنبيهاته في واحد منها سوف ينبه القارئين إلى المنهج وحقيقة العمل في جميعها.
من أجل ذلك رأينا أن تشتمل هذه الدراسة على تمهيدين وسبعة مباحث: (التمهيد الأول خصصناه للتعريف بصاحب التنبيهات، فذكرنا اسمه وكنيته، وبيئته، وعصره، وشيوخه، ومؤلفاته، ومكانته في الحفظ والرواية ورحلاته، ووفاته. التمهيد الثاني: وهو عن المنهج في التنبيهات على ما في الغريب المصنف وقد بينا فيه عدد الأغلاط التي نبه إليها أبو القاسم، وتربيتها، وعادته في سردها، واحتكامه إلى حفظه وروايته هو في تصويبها، وعدم اعتداده بالمجاز والمشترك والمتضاد والمترادف... المبحث الأول: أغلاط الضبط، المبحث الثاني: أغلاط التصحيف والتحريف، المبحث الثالث: أغلاط الأبنية، المبحث الرابع: غلطان نحويان، المبحث الخامس: أغلاط الدلالة، المبحث السادس: أغلاط اللغات واللهجات، المبحث السابع: أغلاط الاشتقاق).
