إدغار موران (بالفرنسية: Edgar Morin ) فيلسوف وعالم اجتماع فرنسي معاصر. ولد في باريس في 8 يوليو 1921. يعرّف نفسه بأنه بنائي بنائية (علم نفس) و يقول : " من يفكر أحمق.". ل المنطق، الوعي والمعرفة، علم الاحياء والفنون لاسيما السينما. من أهم مؤلفاته "الأحمق الغبي هو من لا يفكر" وهو مؤلَّف موسوعي من 100جزء، "السينما أو الرجل الخيالي" " Cinéma ou l"homme imaginaire" وكذلك من أهم مؤلفاته "وحدة الإنسان" و "الإنسان والموت".
حياته
في بداية القرن العشرين هاجرت أسرة موران من سالونيك في اليونان إلى مرسيليا. ثُم إلى باريس حيثُ ولد إدغار هناك، وهو من يهود سفارديون.
عندما غزا الألمان فرنسا في عام 1940، قام إدغار بمساعدة اللاجئين وانضم إلى المقاومة الفرنسية. واستخدم اسم موران كإسم مستعار بوصفه عضواً في المقاومة الفرنسية. ثم انضم إلى الحزب الشيوعي الفرنسي سنة 1941.
قام بتأسيس مجلة Arguments بالفترة (1954-1962). وقام بإصدار كتابه Autocritique في سنة 1959. كان الكتاب يوضح تمسكه ثم خروجه من الحزب الشيوعي.
في سنة 1960 سافر إدغار إلى أمريكا الاتينية وقام بزيارة البرازيل، تشيلي، بوليفيا، بيرو، المكسيك. ثم عاد إلى فرنسا ونشر كتابه L"Esprit du Temps", a work on popular culture.

في لقاء تلفزيوني اجاب ادغار موران عن السؤال " ما الذي دفع ادغار موران الى الكتابة عن الجمال في عمر الخامسة والتسعين"؟ فأجاب بأن السينما، والادب، والشعر، هم الاساس في ثقافته اذ بنيت شخصيته بتأثير مظاهر الفن الثلاثة منذ ان كان طفلاً يتيماً في عمر العاشرة فأخذ يكتشف حقيقته الشخصية عبر الادب والفن فهو يرى انه اكتشف انعفالاته العميقة من قراءته رواية " الجريمة والعقاب " لدستويفسكي ومن سماعه للمفونية التاسعة لبتهوفن في هذا العمر كان يريد الهرب من الواقع باللجوء الى قراءة الادب واذا به يلتقي بالواقع ، لكن بطريقة تحرك الاحاسيس الانسانية النبيلة، وتنبهنا على حقائق موجودة في حياتنا اليومية الا نحتقرهم مثل المشردين والسجناء لكن عندما نقرأ عنهم في الروايات او المسرحيات نرى الظلم الذي دفعهم الى ان يكونوا كذلك ونرى انهم يحملون جوانب انسانية لا تختلف عن التي نحملها فنحن في المسرح والسينما وفي اثناء قراءة الرواية اكثر انفتاحاً على الاخر واكثر انسانية من اي وقت اخر فمعرفتنا للحياة وللانسان تكون افضل مع تحرك المشاعر واثارة الانفعالات الانسانية.
