يقدّم هذا الكتاب أرضيّة نظرية وتطبيقية شاملة ومتسلسلة لأسلوب رواية القصص العلاجية بوصفه أسلوبًا يراعي كيان المسترشِد ويجنّبه القلق الناتج عن العملية الإرشادية بأكبر قدر ممكن، إذ يتجاوز مقاومة المسترشدين، ويفتح الطريق أمام المرشد للوصول إلى مشكلاتهم وتقديم المساعدة الممكنة لهم، وذلك من خلال طرح المشكلة ومناقشتها وحلِّها بطريقة رمزية عبر إسقاطها على القصص التي تكون من تأليف المسترشد.
ويتّجه الكتاب أيضًا نحو المقاربة ما بين النظرية والتطبيق، وفق تسلسل منطقيّ منطلقًا من الخلفية التاريخية للأسلوب إلى الأساس النظري، وصولًا إلى الجوانب التطبيقية.
