الكتاب من أدب الرحلات استعرضت فيه المؤلفة تفاصيل رحلتها المسكونة بالغرائبية العالية والتوفيقية في وصف الحقيقة لقارة أستراليا... تقول الأديبة "دينا سليم" في مقدمة كتابها: يبقى سرُّ الكاتب هو الاكتشاف، وطالما هو حيٌّ، لا يكتفي أبدًا من اكتشافه لنفسه، لوطنه والعالم، دائم الصيرورة يطمح إلى المزيد، الجديد، الغريب وغير المألوف، باحث دؤوب عن آفاق العالم البعيد، فيغوص فيه حتى النخاع، فما يراه هو لا يستطيع أن يراه الآخرون. ما كان مني وعبر رحلتي الطويلة التي قمت بها عابرة ثلاث قارات، رأيتُ أن هناك أشياء كثيرة يجب أن تدَّون مما فيها من احتواء غرائبي للمكان المسكون بكل شيء يتمناه المرء... الحب، الجمال، الهدوء، التحضر، البيئة، الإنسان، العادات والتقاليد، وكل شيء غير متوقع.
تأنيتُ كثيرًا قبل البدء بتدوين المغامرة، لأني حاولت أن أوفق بين السرد المُشاهد والسرد المكتوب، وحتى لا أقع في عالمي الروائي كثيرًا حاولت أن أسقط بكتاباتي حالات بغاية التقريرية، والابتعاد بقدر الإمكان عن الوقوع في أسر السرد العاطفي. وعلى ما أظن أن رحلتي هذه ستلفت نظر المتلقي كونها مسكونة بالغرائبية العالية والتوفيقية في وصف الحقيقة لقارة أستراليا، وألفت النظر أني لم أتطرق لكل الأشياء، لكني حاولت وبقدر الإمكان أن ألمَّ بكل المعلومات والأماكن التي غامرت باكتشافها، علمًا أني لم أكتفي بمشاهدتي البصرية، واستعنت بالكثير من المصادر. دونت أيضًا الكثير مما ذكرته كانت لأشخاص منهم من مات ومنهم ما يزال على قيد الحياة، واستشهدت ببعض ما كتبه أدباؤنا العرب المقيمون في أستراليا، وبعض ما كتبه الأدباء الأستراليون أيضًا.
