هذا الكتاب عبارة عن إجازة للعلامة المحدث خير الدين نعمان الآلوسي أنالها ولدَه محمد ثابت الدين الآلوسي . قام الشيخ خير الدين بتقديم هذا الأثر لطلبة العلم خدمة منه لمنهج أهل الحديث لما درجوا عليه ـ قديماً وحديثاً ـ من وصل سلسلة السند عند أهل الأثر، وكونها طريقة سلكها السلف الأول، وتميزت بها هذه الأمة ـ أمة النبي الأكرم صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ دون غيرها من الأمم. قدم المحقق كتابه هذا بترجمة للشيخ خير الدين الآلوسي، ولابنه ثابت الدين محمد مُعَرِّفاً بهما، وقام بالتعليق في بعض المواضع بما تدعو الحاجة إليه. ثم ذكر نص الإجازة التي تضمنت جميع ما سمع الابن من والده الشيخ خير الدين من كتب، وأسفار، ودروس، وأحاديث نبوية، وجميع العلوم النقلية والعقلية. ثم ذكر الشيخ خير الدين مَنْ أجازه من شيوخه، وكان على رأسهم والده العلامة الشهير صاحب ((التفسير)) الشيخ محمود الآلوسي ـ ثم ذكر الشيخ خير الدين مَنْ أجاز والده وشيخه محمود الآلوسي. ثم ختم بوصيته لابنه في السر والجهر، وعدم الفتور عن الاشتغال بالعلوم الشرعية، واتباع الحق وقبوله. فجاءت إجازة شاملة ونافعة قدمها الشيخ خير الدين لتكون أنموذجاً واضحاً ينبغي لكل طالب علم أن يطلع عليها، وينهل من فوائدها.
