يتناول الكتاب أربع قصص في رواية واحدة يمتزج فيها الواقع بالخيال والحلم بالحقيقة ويتحدث عن إحضار شاب شجاع وطاويط لإبعاد السحر إلى شيخ متصوف عبر مغامرات هائلة كما يظهر عملاق ينتصر للعدل ويحرر المظلومين ويصلب الظالمين دون معرفة حقيقته ثم يظهر مخلوق بشري أشبه بالعنكبوت يحاول ابن المختار استغلال الفلاحين بالخوف منه وقتله ولكنه يوجد مقتولاً أمام باب داره وكذلك تروي عجوز قصة زوجها واندفاع ابنها في اتجاه أبيه نفسه في اختراق نفق الزمن الصعب المظلم.
