تناقش رواية أهزوجة التاريخ "ثورة شباب في العام 2011" الوضع العربي الراهن في كثير من محاوره، عبر قصة شاب ظل يتذمر طويلا وهو في مقعد عجزه، ويرى الواقع مهرجانا للركل، كل يركل من هو أصغر منه، ويركل آخرهم طبلا كبيرا ليضبط إيقاع الركل، ويمر البطل بفترة قاسية، حتى دخل مصحة للأمراض النفسية، ليدهش الطبيب بأفكاره، وبتشخيصه لحالته ومعرفته بالعلاج، فهو نسخة من أمته، لقد قال عن نفسه :"ولأني لم ألعب دوري في الحياة، كنت الكرة التي يلعب بها الآخرون".
وعن دور الفرد يقول بطل الرواية "غير المسمى": الذي ليس له موقف تجاه قضية ما، متنازل عن وجوده أمامها، والذي ليس له موقف تجاه أي شيء، هو في الحقيقة لا شيء"، وينتفض أخيرا في ثورة فردية موازية للربيع العربي ويحقق نجاحات غير متخيلة.
ويرى عدد من النقاد أن الرواية مليئة بالصور والرموز، وأنها تعد تشخيصا وتصويرا لحالة العقيد الليبى المقتول معمر القذافي ونهايته، لتبرهن على دور الأدب في تفسير الواقع وإستشراف المستقبل، ففي مشاهد مكثفة، وسط ركام الأشياء، يرى البطل رؤيا منامية، رأى نفسه يشاهد عبر النافذة، في لحظات الغروب، نباتات سوداء وقزما يسير نحو مستنقع الوحل، وخلفه طفل يحاول أن يثنيه عن فعله "وهو رمز للضمير الإنساني أو الطفل الليبي"
ويصمم البطل على مواصلة المشوار حتى النهاية، ليعيش في قلب الظلام، ليتوج ملكا للملوك، يقول الطفل:" ظننتك ستعاف الوحل"، لكن القزم لا ينثني، ويخرج مسدسه ويقتل الطفل، بعد أن يبلغه رسالة إلى الجرذان، وينغمس تماما في الوحل،"وبعد برهة أخذ يصرخ ويتحدث بلغة غير مفهومة، وكانت صرخاته كمن يطلب النجدة "أنا معمر، أنا القائد، يا أبنائي"، وصوته كمن هو تحت الأنقاض " أنقاض سرت التي دمرت"."وانتهى الحلم بقول البطل: "وبصقت عبر النافذة، وسمعت الإعصار يعوي "الإعصار الذي قلع خيمة القذافي إلى الأبد"، ثم أسدلت الستار.
