وقد عجل برحيل جدي عن هذه المنطقة، حادثة أخرى، فقد حدث شجار بين جدي وبين أحد الطحاوية، أغلظ الطحاوي لجدي في القول، مما دفعه لأن يحضر شومته ويخبطه فيكسر له ذراعه، عرف الطحاوي الكبير أن هذا لا يمكن أن يحدث من فلاح عادي، ويبدو أنه سأل عنه فعرف أنه حافظ لكتاب الله وأنه في حكم علماء الأزهر، كما أنه ينتمي لعائلة كبيرة في القليوبية، فأحجم عن اتخاذ الإجراءات التي يتبعها في مثل تلك الأحوال مع الفلاحين الآخرين.
