إنه لمن المحزن أن تجري عملية استئصال المسلمين في البلقان عامة، وفي البوسنة والهرسك خاصة، على مرأى ومسمع عالم إسلامي مفكك، أبعده الغرب عن أن يكون ذا دور حاسم في نصرة أخوته أبناء الإسلام الذين يذبحون في تلك البلاد، وأن ترتكب أبشع المجازر، وتسيل الدماء أنهاراً، في قلب أوروبا، التي يمثّل فيها اليوم الصربي المتوحش دور النازي الجديد، لكن المستهدف اليوم الإسلام والمسلمون، وإزاء تلك المأساة، وأمام تلك الحقيقة، ومن أجل أولئك المنسيين من أبناء أمتنا، كان لا بد من التعريف بحال هؤلاء الذين يمثلون جزءاً هاماً في الأمة الإسلامية، وذلك لنصرتهم. يتناول المؤلف محنة هؤلاء منذ زوال الحكم العثماني.
وقد قسّم الكتاب إلى عدة فصول، ابتدأها بلمحة استعرض بعض أوجه الصراع بين الإسلام والغرب تاريخياً، ليقدم للقارئ بعد ذلك نبذة عن الفتح العثماني للبلقان مع مقارنة بسيطة بين التسامح الإسلامية وكيف نعم الرعايا النصارى بالهناءة والعيش الكريم من خلال الحكم العثماني، مقابل صورة الحقد والتعصب الصليبي والكراهة التي لقيها المسلمون. مستعرضاً من ثم موجزاً للمخططات الصليبية التي دبرها الغرب لفصل البلقان عن جسم الدولة العثمانية حتى حصل لهم ما أرادوا بعد زوال السلطنة العثمانية وهدم الخلافة الإسلامية، متوقفاً من خلالها عند بعض المآسي التي تعرض لها المسلمون هناك، مركزاً بصورة خاصة على "يوغسلافيا" السابقة و"بلغاريا" حيث نسبة المسلمين مرتفعة، ومحنتهم دامية.
لكن أحداث محنة المسلمين الحالية في جمهورية البوسنة والهرسك، أخذت صفحات طويلة من حجم الكتاب، حيث كان المؤلف يتابع تطورات هذه الأحداث يوماً بعد يوم حتى كتابة السطور، من خلال قراءة ما يتوفر له من أخبار وتحليلات صحفية، لم يضن على أي منها لإغناء موضوع بحثه في هذا الكتاب، ليفيد بذلك القارئ، وليساهم بقلمه في مساعدة هؤلاء المنسيين من أبناء الأمة الإسلامية.
