هذا شرح متوسط نافع مفيد على منظومة الشيخ سليمان الجمزوري الموسومة بـ "تحفة الأطفال" في تجويد كلام المولى عز وجل، وهذا الشرح من وضع شيخنا العلامة المتفنن شيخ القراء في لبنان، الجامع بين المنقول والمعقول: الشيخ حسن بن حسن دمشقية. ومنظومة "تحفة الأطفال" من أسهل ما نظم للمبتدئين في علم التجويد، جمع فيها الشيخ الجمزوري الضروري من الأحكام التي يحتاجها قارئ كتاب عز وجل، من أحكام النون الساكنة والتنوين والميم الساكنة والمدود، وقد راعى في نظمه اليسر ليسهل على المبتدئين في هذا العلم-سواءً كانوا صغاراً-حفظها، وقد كتب القبول لهذه المنظومة فتعهدها العلماء بالشرح والتعليم حتى عدت أول ما يتعلمه المبتدئ في علم تجويد القرآن الكريم.
وهذا الشرح الذي بين أيدينا مهذب ومختصر من شرح الشيخ محمد الميهي المسمى "فتح الملك المتعال بشرج تحفة الأطفال" وهو من أفضل وأوسع شروح هذه المنظومة، بل لقد اعتمد عليه الناظم الشيخ الجمزوري حين أراد شرح منظومته، حيث يقول في أول شرحه "فتح الأقفال": "فقد طلب مني بعض الأحباب أن أعمل لهم شرحاً لطيفاً مختصراً على نظمي المسمى بـ"تحفة الأطفال" فأجبته في ذلك بأحسن جواب... وجعلت أصله شرح ولد شيخنا الشيخ محمد الميهي...، واعتمدت فيما تركته من هذا الشرح عليه...".
وقد رأى شيخنا الشيخ حسن دمشقية رحمه الله أن لا يطبع شرح الشيخ الميهي "فتح الملك المتعال" كما هو دون تهذيب أو اختصار، لما فيه من استطراد إلى مسائل نحوية وبلاغية ومنطقية لا علاقة بها بعلم التجويد، فطُلب باختصاره لتعم الفائدة بما حواه من حل لمسائل النظم المذكور. وقد قام كما أسلفنا "رمزي سعد الدين دمشقية" بجمعه وبقراءته وبالتعليق عليه وبتنقيح عباراته وقبل ذلك بضبط المنظومة ضبطاً دقيقاً متأنياً وذلك لتسهل مطالعتها من قبل القراء.
