تسأل الوفود "المتوجهة إلى مكة المكرمة لأداء مناسكهم، من أين يجب عليهم الإحرام ونيته ولباسه، هل هو من المدينة المنورة نفسها، أو من ميقات ذي الحُليفة(آبار علي)؟ أو أنه يجوز لهم تأخير الإحرام ولباسه إلى الميقات الثاني الذي يلي الحُليفة على طريق مكة، وهو ميقات الجُحفة(رابغ)؟"
يقدّم هذا الكتاب جواباً شافياً لهذه الأسئلة، ويبين مؤلفه "أقوال المذاهب الفقهية الأربعة المعتمدة وغيرهم، مع ذكر أدلتهم النقلية والعقلية، متوسعاً بشكل خاص بنقل أقوال أئمة المذهب الحنفي الذي هو إمام فيه، وذلك لشهرة هذه المسألة في المذهب الحنفي دون غيره من المذاهب".
بعد التمهيد الذي يبحث في تعريف الأضحية وفضلها وحكمها الذي اختلف فيه الفقهاء، ووقتها، يبدأ المبحث الأول وفيه أقوال الفقهاء في حكم أخذ الشعر أو الظفر في عشر ذي الحجة لمن أراد أن يضحي، وفيه ذكر أربعة من الأقوال ومناقشتها وتبيان أدلة كل منها، فمنهم من ذهب إلى "الإباحة" وهو قول الحنفية، ومنهم من "حرّم" وهو قول الحنابلة وفريق من الفقهاء، و"بيان أن خلاف الفقهاء رحمة، ولا ينبغي التشديد على الناس".
يطرح المبحث الثاني بعض الفروع الفقهية المتعلقة بمسألة حكم أخذ الشعر أو الظفر، مثل بيان الحكمة من عدم الأخذ ، وبيان الأيام التي يترك فيها الأخذ، وبيان ما يشمله هذا النهي من أخذ الشعر والظفر، وبيان ما يسثنى من ذلك، و"لاجزاء ولا فدية على من أخذ من شعره أو ظفره إلا التوبة"، و"لا فرق في حكم أخذ الشعر أو الظفر بين الرجل والمرأة"، وغير ذلك.
