"وإلى الأبد، يمضي بنا درب الحياة، الحلو والمر، الذي لسنا نبالي أننا نمشيه، أو يمشي بنا، ما دام أن قلوبنا، أغصان أشجار تعانق نبضها، وظلالها انثالت على أفياءه، يداً بيد... وإلى الأبد تبقين أغنية الحياة العذابة الألحان والكلمات، تبقى حياتي، دون عزف ندائك، الصمت الذي يجثو على صدر المآثم، وحدتي رغم الحشود بدون أوركسترا حديثك، كيف أهرب من نشاز الكائنات، الناس، والأشياء من حوالي إلى مدن السعادة ... وإلى الأبد نمشى معاً درب الحياة إلى الحياة، نمشي معاً، حتى نصير عجائزاً، نحكي إلى الأطيار في عشب الحدائق حبنا، ونقص للأحفاد فلم الذكريات كي نستعيد الدهشة الأولى، نداواتِ البدايةِ، رعشة القَلْبِ الذي غنَّتْ حناياهُ. "أحبك" في فضاء الوقت، في قلب القصائد في ثنايا هذه الأبيات في نبض العجوزين اللذين يؤرجحان يديهما في فيء أشجار الطريق، اللانهائي الظلال يداً بيد".
في حنايا ذاته يبحث "طارق عبد العزيز أبو عبيد" عن حزن وجهه، محاولاً كسر قيود الذات والانعتاق منها إلى الوجود الإنساني لعله بهذا الانعتاق يجلي ما علق على وجهه من خفايا وهموم داخلية.
"أقدم إليكم، سيداتي وسادتي، شاعراً شاباً يذكرني بنزار قباني، وأسارع فأقول أنني لا اقصد أنه يسرق معجم نزار، أو شيئاً من كحل سمراواته، أو قنينة من عطر شقراواته، أعني أن هذا الشاعر استطاع، كما استطاع نزار قبله، أن يحوّل مفردات الحياة اليومية، المبتذلة إن شئتم، غلى شعر جميل. ستجدون أن الشعر الحقيقي يستطيع أن يستوعب كلمات مثل "الكمبيوتر" و"رائحة الزيت والقلي"، و"محل شاورما" و"بباي" الملاح عاشق الزيتونة، بالإضافة إلى أطلس كامل من المواقع الجغرافية، دون أن يفقد شيئاً من شعريته (إن صح التعبير).
أرحب، معكم، بنزار الجديد، ولا يراودني أي شك أنه سيكبر، وسيكبر معه شعره".
