جاء الكتاب من تأليف "مي عماد شبقلو" يهدف إلى تدريب جوارح النطق لدى الأطفال في سن مبكرة عن طريق الاكتساب. يُعدّ المحيط الاجتماعي بسماته الثقافية وأطره المعرفية من أهم العوامل التي تؤثر على تعلم النطق والكلام لدى الطفل، بحيث أن النمو اللغوي يتأثر بالخبرات وتنوعها واختلاط الطفل بالراشدين أثناء مراحل نمو السلوك اللغوي، وهذا يؤكد أن اللغة هي الأداة المثلى التي يتم بواسطتها هذا الاحتكاك إلا أنها لا تكتسب بصورة تلقائية فلا بد من التدريب على النطق الذي يتطلب من الأهل وقت ليس بالقصير قبل أن يتمكّن الطفل من النطق السليم. من هذا المنطلق جاءت هذه المجموعة لتساعد الأهل على تعليم أطفالهم عملية النطق بالحروف وكيفية استخدامها بأبسط الطرق وأغناها معرفة، وذلك عبر قصص مشوقة وممتعة تتخللها رسومات ملونة تقرِّب المعنى إلى ذهن الطفل المتلقي، الأمر الذي يحفز اهتمامه ويثير انتباهه إلى اكتشاف معاني الموجودات ومسمياتها ومصدر الأصوات في البيئة المحيطة به. وفي هذا الكتاب أربع قصص مشوقة ومفيدة لأطفالنا يتعرفون بها على أربع حروف وحركاتها وسكناتها وإلحاقها بأحرف أخرى، وكيفية كتابتها باللغة العربية. مثال: "الحرف ظ" في قصة (الظاء وظافر)، يتعلم الطفل لماذا تأتي حركة السكون فوق ظْ، ولماذا تتغيّر إلى ظَ، وظِ بحسب موقعها من الجملة. وهكذا في بقية القصص مثل "الكاف وكركور" وحرف (ك)، و"العين وعبير" وحرف (ع)، و"الغين والغسالة" وحرف (غ). "حكايات للحروف" هي دليل الأسرة إلى عملية تعليم النطق السليم لأطفالها، مما يسهل عملية التواصل المتبادل والتفاعل الإيجابي بين الأهل والولد وبينه وبين مدرِّسيه في الصف، ويساهم في بناء شخصية طفل متكامل وسوي يتّقن العربية من ألفها إلى يائها وهذا ما نهدف إليه.
