تعد المدرسة العمرية المنسوبة إلى أبي عمر محمد بن أحمد بن قدامة المقدسي المتوفى سنة 607هـ أم النهضة العلمية الرائعة التي قامت في سفح جبل قاسيون شمال غرب دمشق في المنطقة التي عرفت فيما بعد بالصالحية نسبة لصلاح الذين أنشؤوها على أرجح الأقوال.
فمن أبو عمر مؤسس العمرية؟ إنه العالم التقي المجاهد الذي عانى ظلم الفرنجة في أثناء الحروب الصليبية بفلسطين، فرحل مع أبيه وأسرته إلى دمشق فراراً إلى الله بدينهم.. وكانت النهضة المشهورة في الصالحية..
هذا الكتاب يلقي الضوء على المدرسة ويؤرخ لها بوثائق هامة تستحق الوقوف عندها.
