يعيش إيبن ماكاليستر في قرية صغيرة مع أبيه وعمه بريتي. كان إيبن يحبّ القراءة فأهدته مدرّسته كتاباً عن عجائب العالم القديم السبع فانبهر بها وصار يحلم بالسفر واستكشاف العالم. كما وعده أبوه بأن يسافر في رحلة إن تمكن من العثور على سبع عجائب في قريته الصغيرة حيث تبدو الأمور عادية جداً. في البدء بدا تحدياً كبيراً جداً، لكن رحلة البحث عن العجائب مكّنت إيبن من اكتشاف عالمه الصغير وكذلك طبيعة الناس الذين يعيشون فيه، فخاض مجموعة من المغامرات التي لا تخلو من التشويق والتسلية والمفاجآت غير المتوقعة مع كلبته الوفية سال وأصدقائه.
