في مقاربة معرفية لمفاهيم الجهاد التي تجد في المصادر الإسلامية غير القابلة للتجاوز التعبير الأمثل عن جوهرها ومغزاها، فكراً وممارسة، ومن خلال اقتران إشكاليات هذه الفرضية مع متحولات الهوية والسيادة، وتقاطعها مع معضلات المركزية والتراث والآخر، في هذه الحقبة الحرجة من التطور الإنساني، تحاول مؤلفة هذا الكتاب تفنيد موروث فقهي متراكم حول الجهاد، عبر الاستعانة بمناهج تحقق تمثلاً إدراكياً للقرآن الكريم، في قوانينه الكلية، كمرجعية أعلى، وللقدوة النبوية، قولاً وسلوكاً، ولعبر العصر الراشدي، انطلاقاً من اعتقاد راسخ بضرورة إعادة تأسيس مقومات للجهاد من شأنها أن تجسد جوهر هذه الفريضة وأن تخرجها من صيغها المطلقة والمجردة والرومانسية، وأن تحررها، بصورة خاصة، من اسر البعد الصغرى الذي أفضى، قرناً بعد قرن، إلى فقدان التواصل مع منهجية المنظومة القرآنية، بكل ما تنطوي عليه من قيم أخلاقية ودلالات مفاهيمية، مؤهلة للتكيف الخلاق مع معطيات الحقبة المعلوماتية، وقادرة على التصدي لمخاطر الاجتياح العولمي بكل تجلياته وتداعياته.
هي، إذن، محاولة نابعة من قناعة عميقة بأنه قد أصبح من الملح أن يتصدى العقل المسلم لعملية تأصيل الجهاد الإسلامي، قرآناً وسنة، على صعيد كوكبي، سعياً نحو تحرير الوعي الإسلامي الجمعي من التكلس والانكفاء والهوجسة، عبر اعتبار المصالح الإسلامية الأعلى أولوية مطلقة، وعبر فتح آفاق واسعة للمقاصد الإسلامية الأشمل، تمهيداً لانخراط الإسلام، ديناً وحضارة، في مجريات الحدث المعلوماتي والصيروات العالمية، فاعلاً لا منفعلاً، مؤثراً ومتأثراً في سبيل حماية المصير الإسلامي ن مخاطر هذا العصر الإنعطافي الذي يرمي أقوياؤه إلى تكريس الإسلام مطية لصراعات الهيمنة الناشبة بينهم.
