هل كتب على شعوب الشرق الأوسط الكبير، هذه الرقعة التي تمتد من موريتانيا حتى الباكستان والصومال وتركيا، أن تكابد الاعتداءات المتكررة من قبل إسرائيل والدول الغربية الكبرى؟ ما هي الدوافع الحقيقية لهذه الاعتداءات؟ هل هي من قبيل الإيثار والحرص على تمكين الغير من الديمقراطية والحداثة؟ هل هي ضرب من الصليبية ضدّ الإسلام والمسلمين؟ هل هي بكل بساطة الإرادة في السيطرة على ثرواتها الطبيعية التي تثير أطماع متنافسين تتزايد جرأتهم، وفتح أسواق هذه المنطقة على مصراعيها أمام الشركات المتعدّدة الجنسيات وإعادة رسم الخريطة السياسية لهذه المنطقة الإستراتيجية خدمة لمصلحة إسرائيل وحدها؟ وهل تستطيع شعوب الشرق الأوسط الكبير التي تواجهها هذه التحدّيات أن تسلم مقدّراتها إلى حكام عرب ليس لهم من حديث إلاّ عن السلم؟ ألا تؤكد الهزيمة التي ألحقتها المقاومة اللبنانية بالجيش الإسرائيلي خلال صيف 2006 أن عجز العرب أمام تل أبيب ليس قدراً محتوماً، بل يعود بالعكس إلى خيار سياسي متعمّد من قبل نُظم تساهم مباشرة في نظام الهيمنة الامبريالية على المنطقة؟ ما الموقف من المقاومة اللبنانية، وحزب الله أو منظمة حماس الفلسطينية؟ هل يمكن أن نطابق بينها وبين "الفيس" الجزائري؟ ما الموقف من كل من النظام الإيراني والسوري والسوداني؟ هل يمكن السكوت عن طبيعتها الدكتاتورية والمعادية للشعب؟ هل يجب أن نتجاهل كونها تساهم بطريقتها في مقاومة القوى العظمى وإسرائيل وحلفائهم العرب؟ هل توجد علاقة بين نضالات التحرر الوطني من جهة والنضالات الاجتماعية والديمقراطية من جهة أخرى في البلدان العربية المستقلة؟ ما هي العلاقة التي يجب أن تقوم بين الكفاح المسلّح، والنضالات الاجتماعية والديمقراطية والمقاومة التي تبديها "الدول المارقة"؟ هل أن النقاش الذي دار في سبعينيات القرن العشرين حول الثورة العربية نقاش تجاوزه الزمن؟ أم هل يجب على العكس، إعادة إحيائه وترهينه على ضوء الوضعية العالمية الجديدة لفترة ما بعد الاتحاد السوفياتي؟ هل إن السلام ممكن مع إسرائيل؟ ما هو مصير الإسرائيليين في شرق أوسط متخلّص من الدول النقيّة عرقياً؟
إن هذا الكتاب يدعونا إلى التفكير وفتح النقاش حول هذه المسائل الجوهرية من أجل وضع استراتيجية لتحرير شعوب هذه المنطقة.
