يأتي ديوان "البحر لا يعتذر للسفن –شيء من تداعيات بحار صغير يدعى "علي الشرقاوي" بما يحمله من نصوص شعرية إنجازاً حداثياً إبداعياً ومشروعاً غنياً بمظاهر الحداثة، يتميز ببنية صياغية كشفت عن مهارة عالية المستوى في استخدام آليات صياغية، احتوت مضموناً ينطلق من رؤية كونية تجسد قضايا ذات أبعاد تاريخية، وثقافية وحضارية أسسها الإنسان العربي؛ ومشحوناً بفيض دلالي يكسر أفق انتظار القارئ، ويدخله إلى عالم النص الشعري.
يقول في قصيدة [الكوني الضوء]: "يا الأبدي المتحرك قبل سطوع الكلام/ يا الذي لا بداية له/ والذي لا نهاية له/ والذي.../ في لا وجودك نحيا/ وجود الإضاءة في كيمياء الظلام.
أما عن الحب يكتب قصيدة بعنوان [رائحة الذبذبة]: "الكلام عن الحب يفسد رائحة الحب/ دعه يغرد بين خلاياك/ كالطين في الطير/ يصعد بالإندهش وينزل فوق مزارع ما لا يكون/ دعه يغرد في ذبذبات السكون/ أنت بحر/ وخارطة الماء لا تنحني/ للكواكب أو غيرها".
"البحر لا يعتذر للسفن" مساهمة في محاورة المشروع الحداثي، وضع علي الشرقاوي من خلاله بصمة في الشعر العربي المعاصر، وكشف ما فيه من جماليات، فكان خير من كتب وخير من أبدع...
