تبنى النابلسي فكرة وحدة الوجود بمفهومها الإسلامي ودافع عنها حيث ذكر في كتابه إيضاح المقصود من معنى وحدة الوجود: أن كون وجود الله تعالى هو وجود المخلوقات لا ينافي أن وجود المخلوقات كلها بقدرة الله تعالى وعلمه وحياته وبقية صفاته، لأن كلمة وحدة الوجود إختصار في الكلام عند العارفين وإجمال فيه وتفصيلها ما عند علماء الرسوم وعلماء الكلام من بيان صفات الله تعالى وشرح أسمائه سبحانه، فإن صفاته تعالى عندهم ليست عين الذات ولا غيرها ولم يقل أحد من أهل السنّة بمغايرتها لذاته حق المغايرة الموجبة للتركيب.
فكان القول بأن وجود الله تعالى به وجود كل شيء على معنى خلق وجود كل شيء وفرضه وتقديره وكذلك فالنابلسي يرى أن الفناء أصل لوحدة الوجود.
ولا يرى أيضاً ثمة تعارض بين الحقيقة والشريعة، إذ الحقيقة أصل والشريعة فرعها، ولا ثمة تعارض بين الشرع وما جاء على لسان بعض الصوفية من شطحات، لأن الشاطح عنده كان حال إطلاقه لكلامه مع الله عزّ وجلّ لا مع الخلق حتى يبين لهم، ولا مع نفسه حتى يستحفظ عليها.
وكذلك يرى النابلسي أن الحقيقة المحمدية مفادها عند الصوفية الصورة الجامعة للكمالات الإلهية المتمثلة في عناصر النبوة والرسالة والفردية.
وقد قام النابلسي بشرح كتاب "الإقليد الفريد في تجريد التوحيد" للشيخ أحمد الشناوي فأوضح فيه قضايا الوجود والفناء والولاية وكل الموضوعات الخاصة التي أجملناها بإختصار فيما سبق، وما يراه من بيان منظور الصوفية وموقفهم من الأسماء والصفات والذات الإلهية والإرادة والأفعال وغيرها الكثير مما تعرض له كتابنا.
