مجانين في زمن عاقل" رواية تحمل في عنوانها جمالية متفردة لمضمونها. المثل الشعبي يقول: "العقل زينة واللي بلاه حزينة" ومن هنا يأتي التفرد فالكاتبة تضعنا أمام موازنة الأمور بمكاييل العقل في زمن ندُر فيه الفرح وصار الباحث عن الحب مجنوناً… القاسم تكتب من عمق الصراع الفلسطيني باختلاف المسببات والمؤثرات. وقد وظفت ما يحدث على الساحة السياسية للبحث في أسباب الانقسام الفلسطيني ..يلعب القرار 181 الصادر عن الجمعية العامة لهيئة الأمم المتحدة والذي أُطلق عليه "قرار تقسيم فلسطين " لحل النزاع العربي اليهودي على الأرض. كذلك الحياة التي يعيشها "فلسطينيو الداخل 48″ والتي تقتضي بحرمانهم من أبسط الحقوق من الامتلاك والتوظيف ما لم يخدموا في الجيش دوراً أساسياً في ذروة الحدث "حبكة الرواية".
العلاقة داخل الوطن الذي تجزأ بحكم اتفاقية أوسلو بشكل خاص وبالنظرة الفوقية والعنصرية الخرقاء التي يتعامل بها بعض أبناء الشعب الواحد من ناحية أخرى صارت علاقة شائكة بمرور الوقت.
وبرغم ذلك فإن الكاتبة تنتصر لإنسانية المجانين في هذا الزمن حين تواجه الآخرين: "أنا عاقلة في زمن المجانين"… الحب لا تفرقه ثقافات أو أطر جغرافية أو حتى سياسية.
هذه المرة اختلف الأمر أيها المجانين، فعلى مرمى شهقة من فقداني، جلس ببرودة أعصابه المعهودة دون أن يقتلني، بين أصابعه سيجارة يشعلها يمتصها بنهم، فينضج الموت في فمي ولا يهتكنَّ سرَّ الدخان، يكفي نظراته إغتصاباً لحرمة إمتناعي فيزداد شوقي وإحتراقي.
فهمت فهمت، هكذا صرخ ملوحاً بدخان سيجارته المجنون، ثم ارتسمت على شفتيه إبتسامة غامضة، أدركتُ إذ ذاك أنني جاوزت حدود المرأة واعتديت على واجبات الأنوثة، فرأيتُ أن أعتاض بالصمت عن الإندفاع في الهمس واللمس.
