تنتمي مقالات هذا الكتاب إلى مجالات متعددة ذات صلة بالفلسفة الإسلامية، إذ تتناول مواضيع ذات علاقة وثيقة بعلم الكلام وفلسفة التاريخ وفلاسفة الإسلام لكنها جاءت مترابطة متناسقة فيما بينها. ولقد افرد المؤلف الباب الأول للحديث عن الفلسفة الإسلامية فبدأ بمقدمات بين فيما عالمية الاعتقاد بمخلص منتظر وتطرق إلى العوامل المحددة لوجهة نظر كل فرقة من فرق المسلمين وقد رأى أن عقيدة المهدي المنتظر محصلة جدل بين أمرين: عجز الإنسان عن تحقيق العدالة في الأرض وإيمانه بالعدالة الإلهية.
ويدور الفصل الثاني حول التصوف منقباً في روحه وطبيعته ورأى أن فلاسفة الصوفية قد أخطأوا منهجياً حين أقحموا التصوف في مجال خاص بالفلسفة وحين خلطوا بين مبحث الوجود ومبحث القيم. أما الفصل الثالث فهو بحث في فلسفة الإسلام تناول فيه ابن رشد فبين أن رد ابن رشد وانتقاداته للمتكلمين كلها جدلية وليست من البرهان في الشيء. ويبحث الباب الثاني في موضوعات الفلسفة العامة بمعناها الواسع فجاء الفصل الأول حول فلسفة التاريخ، أما الفصل الثاني فهو يدور حول فلسفة الدين ويتطرق إلى مذهب الدين الطبيعي، والإيديولوجى بين الفلسفة والدين، أما الفصل الثالث فهو يتعلق بفلسفة السياسة وقد اختار المؤلف نماذج للمقارنة استنتج أن مسيرة الأنظمة السياسية خلال التاريخ وبخاصة الإسلامي أميل غلى الدكتاتورية واختتم بحثه بدراسة عن جابر بن حيان واثر الروح الإسلامية في ابتكاراته.
