يتضمن هذا الكتاب أربع دراسات مرتبة على النحو التالي: الدراسة الأولى وموضوعها: "الكمبيوتر في التعليم ضرورة لا بد منها" وتبرز هذه الدراسة الآراء الموافقة، وغير الموافقة على فكرة استخدام وتوظيف الكمبيوتر في التعليم، كما أنها تبين أن الكمبيوتر تقنية تربوية مفيدة، وذلك على الرغم من أن الصعوبات التي قد تقف حجر عثر أمام استخدامه في العملية التربوية وتجيب الدراسة في النهاية على السؤال: لمن يقدم الكمبيوتر؟.
الدراسة الثانية وموضوعها: "تطبيقات الكمبيوتر غير التدريسية". وتبين هذه الدراسة بعض تطبيقات الكمبيوتر غير التدريسية، مثل تدريب المعلمين والإداريين، والبحوث التربوية والإدارية والعمليات الإدارية، والألعاب التعليمية. الدراسة الثالثة وموضوعها: "الكمبيوتر في تعليم مادة الرياضيات" وتظهر هذه الدراسة بعض النماذج من تطبيقات الكمبيوتر في تعليم مادة الرياضيات. الدراسة الرابعة وموضوعها: "الكمبيوتر ليس نهاية المطاف".
وتظهر هذه الدراسة إمكانية لوقوع الخطأ عند استخدام الكمبيوتر في البرهنة. كما تظهر بعض التحفظات بالنسبة للكمبيوتر على الرغم من أنه يستطيع أن يفكر، وأن يتعلم، وأنه يتمتع كذلك بالذكاء. وتجيب الدراسة في نهايتها عن السؤال: هل استخدام الكمبيوتر في التعليم يعني نهاية المطاف بالنسبة للمعوقات والصعوبات التي تعاني منها العملية التعليمية في وقتنا الحالي؟
ولقد عمد الكاتب أن يكون أسلوب الكتاب مناسباً سواء للمبتدئين ممن ليست لديهم فكرة سابقة عن الكمبيوتر، أو للدارسين ممن لديهم فكرة معقولة عن الكمبيوتر إذا سيجد كل فريق من الفريقين السابقين مبتغاه وما يرضيه بين دفتي الكتاب. ولا يفوت الكاتب أن يلفت النظر إلى أن جميع البرامج المتضمنة بالكتاب ثم تقديمها باللغة العربية مما يساعد القارئ غير المتخصص على فهم موضوعات الكتاب بسهولة ويسر.
