هكذا تكلم النص، دراسة يواصل بها د، محمد عبد المطلب، مجموعة إصداراته عن شعر الحداثة، والتي بدأها بالجيلين الأول والثاني من شعراء الخمسينيات والستينيات، وهنا، يوضح جهود جيل السبعينيات، متخذاً من الشاعر رفعت سلام مثالاً لهذه الجهود، لما له من خصوصية في التراكيب اللغوية، وإنتاج الدلالة الشعرية، وقد صدر د.عبد المطلب الدراسة، بمقدمة وافية، حدد فيها المنهج الذي بدأه من الذات والموضوع، مروراً بخطوط الدلالة وظواهر الاستدعاء واللغة، وصولاً إلى الظواهر الإيقاعية المختلفة في النص، وقد تناول دواوين الشاعر الأربعة في متن الدراسة، كما أفرد لكل ديوان فصلاً خاصاً، ولا شك أن المنهج الحداثي الذي اعتمدته الدراسة، يمثل إضافة حقيقية، توائم بين ما جد على الساحة النقدية من تيارات حداثية عموماً، والتجربة الشعرية في السبعينات خصوصاً.
