عماد عبد السلام رؤوف (بغداد 1948-) مؤرخ ومحقق و مفكر عراقي.
ولادته ونشأته
ولد عماد عبد السلام رؤوف العطار في بغداد سنة 1367هـ/1948م، من عائلة موصلية الأصل عباسية النسب وتلقى علومه الأولية فيها.
دراسته
دخل كلية الآداب في قسم التاريخ وتخرج فيها عام 1970م. ثم واصل دراسته العليا في جامعة القاهرة ونال شهادة الماجستير في التاريخ الحديث عام 1973م، عن رسالته (ولاية الموصل في العهد الجليلي 1749-1834). ونال شهادة الدكتوراه عام 1976م في الجامعة ذاتها عن رسالته (الحياة الاجتماعية في العراق في عهد المماليك 1750-1831).

Book Description
تتناول هذه الدراسة جوانب من تاريخ الكُرد في العصر الحديث، معتمدة في أكثرها على وثائق غير منشورة، أو غير موظفة في دراسات سابقة في الموضوع نفسه، منها ما هو الأرشيف العثماني، ومنها ما هو في الأرشيف المصري، ومنها ما يعتمد على وثائق محلية، ونصوص خطية كتبها مؤرخون من الكُرد وغيرهم.
ثمة دراسات تتناول الحقب الغامضة من تاريخ الإمارات الكُردية الثلاث: البابانية والسورانية والبهدينانية ولا سيما تلك الحقب التي شهدت المراحل الأولى لتأسيسها.
كما اختصت بعض دراسات الكتاب بالجانب الحضاري للكرُد، فثمة دراسة تناولت بالتحليل صورتهم في (ألف ليلة وليلة)، ودراستان تناولتا الأوضاع في بلادهم من خلال رحلتين قام بهما رحالتان تركيان بارزان، في القرنين السادس عشر والسابع عشر، هما نصوح السلاحي الشهير بمطراقي زاده، وأوليا جلبي الذي قضى سنوات في كردستان.
وفي الكتاب أيضاً دراسة عن أول عهد الكُرد بالمدفعية الثقيلة، وتظهر أن كردستان شهدت منذ عهد مبكر من إختراع هذا السلاح المهم، تأسيس مصانع له، كما ثمة دراسة عن الجهود التي بذلها الأب أنستاس ماري كرملي في مجال تاريخ اللغة الكردية وتوصله إلى أصالة هذه اللغة.
وهناك دراسة عن مخطوطة ألفها كاتب عربي، ربما موصلي، عاش في القرن التاسع عشر تتضمن بيانات مهمة عن عدد من القبائل الكردية في سوريا وما بين النهرين.
