إن علوم الحديث تشهدُ اليومَ نهضةً علميةً مباركة، وذلك من خلال ما يقوم به طلبة العلم والباحثون من إخراجٍ لكنوز السنة وتحقيقها تحقيقاً علمياً دقيقاً، والعناية بها عنايةً فائقةً، أو دراسة مسائل علوم الحديث ومصطلحه ورجاله وعلله، دراسة نوعية، تجمع بين التأصيل النظري والتطبيق العملي، وقد أسهمت هذه الجهود، في حل كثير من الإشكالات العلمية والقضايا الشائكة في علوم الحديث.
ومن تِلكُم القضايا المهمة التي كانت محل نظر وإختلاف بين العلماء "تقوية الحديث الضعيف، شروطها وضوابطها"، فقد تعددت فيها وجهات النظر، وكان للمحدّثين لها إجتهاد وتصرفات تحتاج إلى إستقراء وتتبع وتحليل، وكان للفقهاء فيها - على إختلاف مذاهبهم - ملحظ معتبر، ومسالك وطرائق تختلف بعض الشيء عمَّا درج عليه المحدّثون، فجاءت هذه الأُطروحة الموسومة بــ"منهج تقوية الحديث الضعيف بين المحدثين والفقهاء"، والتي تقدَّم بها الدكتور "حاج محمد قاسم" للحصول على شهادة الدكتوراه في الحديث وعلومه، لدراسة هذا الموضوع وإستجلاء نقاط الإتفاق والإختلاف بين الفريقين، وقبل ذلك معرفة مناهج المحدثين أنفسهم فيها، ومناهج الفقهاء على تعدّد مذاهبهم في ذلك.
