فللعقل إذاً تاريخ فعلي بانتصاراته وهزائمه، بتقلباته واستقراره، بعزلته وانتشاره، الدراسات التي قدمها المؤلف في هذا الكتاب عيّنات من تاريخ واسع لنظرية العقل في الإسلام وقد وقف المؤلف عند نظريات الكندي والفارابي وابن سينا والغزالي وابن باجه لعرض نظرية العقل مبيناً الملامح المشتركة فيما بينهم برغم اختلاف مدارسهم واتجاهاتهم كما توقّف عند النقلة النوعية من المعرفة إلى العقل أو من العقل كعقلانية إلى العقل كمعقولية، أي أن العقل كان يشكل في نظرهم مبدأ للمعرفة وغاية لها.
كتاب غني بنصوصه جاد في دراساته حافل بمراجعة العربية والأجنبية، إنه رسالة في نظرية المعرفة العقلية، ولمحة سريعة على فهرسه تستنتج عزيزي القارئ أهمية الكتاب وعمق محتوياته الفلسفية.
