النظير هو أن يجمع الناظر أو الناثر أمرًا وما يناسبه لتخرج المطابقة، سواء كانت المناسبة لفظًا لمعنى، أو لفظًا للفظ، أو معنى لمعنى، إذ القصد جمع الشيء إلى ما يناسبه من نوعه، أو يلائمة في أحد الوجوه، بمعنى أن النظائر هي ما جمعه العلماء من آيات قرآنية، أو أحاديث نثرية، أو أبيات شعرية، مستشعرين بها شيئًا من التوافق، أو التطابق بينها وبين الأمثلة محل الخلاف محاولين الربط بين هذه الأمثلة من الناحيتين اللفظية والمعنوية. يتناول البحث هنا مجموعة من الآيات والقراءات القرآنية الصحيحة والشاذة، ونعني بها تلك الآيات التي استعملها علماء القراءات، وعلماء اللغة نظائر داعمة لبعض ما ذهبوا إليه من آرائهم وتوجيهاتهم.
