يرى المؤلف الكتاب أن الذكاء الوجداني يُعد أحد الذكاءات المتعددة التي أشار إليها كل من فؤاد أبو حطب (1973)، وجاردنر (1983)، وبالتالي نجد أن نظرية الذكاءات المتعددة تُعد مصدراً أساسياً للذكاء الوجداني الذي يُعتبر من المفاهيم الحديثة نسبياً والذي ما زال يكتنفه بعض الغموض، وربما يعود ذلك إلى غموض مفهوم الذكاء وصعوبة تحديده على نحو دقيق لكونه صفة وليس كينونة، وربما يعود ذلك الغموض أيضاً لكون الذكاء نتيجة أو حصيلة الخبرات التعليمية للفرد، والتي تتراكم على نحو شبه منتظم خلال مراحل نموه المختلفة حيث يبدو الذكاء نوعاً من تتابع أو تسلسل وظائف النمو الثابتة.
ولما كانت رياض الأطفال هي المؤسسات التربوية التي يلتحق بها الأطفال بعد إكمالهم الرابعة من العمر وتمتد حتى سن السادسة، ومدة الدراسة بها سنتان، وهي مرحلة تأهيلية تسبق المرحلة الإبتدائية، فإن الأطفال في هذه المرحلة ينمو لديهم نوع من أنواع الذكاءات المتعددة ألا وهو الذكاء الوجداني والذي نحن بصدده الآن.
