تكشف هذه الدراسة عن الأثر البيئي النجدي في نصوص شعرائها فضلاً عما اكتسبته لفظة (نجد) من قيمة رمزية تركت اثرها العميق في ذاكرة الشعراء ونتاجهم الشعري على مرَ العصور ولأهمية ذلك بدأ مؤلف الكتاب "ميثم علي الجبوري"بتتبع ظاهرة التأثر الواضح في الشعر من فترة ما قبل الإسلام حتى نهاية العصر الأموي كاشفاً عن مظاهر الحياة العامة في البيئة النجدية من الناحية السياسية والدينية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية ومتحدثاً عن طبيعة المنطقة ومناخها وأماكن القبائل فيها.
توزَعت الدراسة على ثلاثة فصول ومباحث، وخصص (الفصل الأول) لدراسة أثر البيئة النجدية في الإطار الغني للقصيدة العربية واشتمل على ثلاثة مباحث تناول الأول منها أثر البيئة النجدية في افتتاحية القصيدة المتعددة الموضوعات مثل (البعد والحنين إلى المكان)... الخ. وتكفل المبحث الثاني بدراسة اثر البيئة النجدية في خاتمة القصيدة... وتناول (الفصل الثاني) أثر البيئة النجدية في الأغراض الشعرية. وقد تفرغ إلى ستة مباحث، كان الأول منها الوصف، والثاني في الغزل، والثالث في الفخر، والرابع في الهجاء، والخامس في الرئاء، والسادس في المدح. واعتنى (الفصل الثالث) بالدراسة الفنية وبيان أثر البيئة النجدية في اللغة والأساليب. أما الثاني فقد خصص لدراسة الملامح البلاغية، ومنها التشبيه والاستعارة والكناية، ثم الملامح البديعة كالتكرار، والتصريع، والجناس، والطباق، وانتهت بخاتمة تضمنت أهم النتائج التي توصل إليها المؤلف...
