نُوري السَّعيد شغل النَّاس في العراق والمنطقة العربيَّة ردحاً من الزَّمن، فمُنذُ بُرُوزه فوق المسرح السِّياسي، لَفْت أنظار السَّاسة العرب والأجانب طيلة نصف قرن، لِمَا تمتَّع به من ذكاء وقَّاد وفطنة عالية، وقُدرة على المُناورة والخداع، وقد انتبه له البريطانيُّون، وكسبوه إلى صفِّهم، مُنْذُ قَدِمَ إلى العراق عام 1920، واستقرَّ بمنصبه كمُدير للشّرطة العامَّة في الحُكُومة العراقيَّة الجديدة، وبعدها كرئيس لأركان الجيش، ثُمَّ كوزير للدِّفاع، ورئيس للوُزراء لعدَّة مرَّات، وبقي مُخلصاً لبريطانيا، وفيَّاً لها حتَّى ساعة انتهاء نُفُوذها عام 1958. يبحث المُؤلِّف نُشُوء العلاقة وتطوُّرها بين نُوري السَّعيد وبريطانيا، نُوري السَّعيد النَّشأة والتَّكوين ـ اتِّصاله بالسَّاسة البريطانيِّيْن ـ السَّعيد وحُكُومة سُوريا العربيَّة ـ السَّعيد والحُكُومة العراقيَّة المُؤقَّتة 1920، السَّعيد ومهمَّة حماية المصالح البريطانيَّة ـ السَّعيد والموقف البريطاني من قضيَّة فلسطين ـ السَّعيد والمهمَّة الإقليميَّة في الخمسينيَّات ـ مشاريع الدِّفاع عن الشَّرق الأوسط ـ السَّعيد والإصلاح ـ السَّعيد واتِّفاقيَّة النّفط ـ السَّعيد والتَّلويح بالخطر الشُّيُوعي ـ السَّعيد وتعديل مُعاهدة 1930 ـ السَّعيد وسياسة الأحلاف في الخمسينيَّات ـ أزمة السُّويس والتَّحالف البريطاني العراقي، وإجراءات نُوري السَّعيد ـ الاعتداء الثُّلاثي على مصر وبداية السُّقوط البريطاني ـ إجراءات السَّعيد ومُناورته خلال العُدوان الثُّلاثي ـ نُوري السَّعيد وانضمام الكُويت إلى العراق، والتَّآمر على سُوريا ـ نُوري السَّعيد والتَّقارب مع أُسرة آل الصَّباح ـ بريطانيا والحلُّ العراقي الكُويتي ـ السَّعيد والمشروع البريطاني لحلِّ الخلاف ـ آراؤه لانضمام الكُويت إلى العراق ـ السَّعيد والتَّآمر على عرش سُوريا ـ الثَّورة في العراق ونهاية نُوري السَّعيد والنُّفوذ البريطاني ـ إعلان الثَّورة وسُقُوط النِّظام المَلَكي في العراق ـ السَّاعات الأخيرة من حياة نُوري السَّعيد ـ موقف بريطانيا من الثَّورة في العراق ـ تدابير الحُكُومة العراقيَّة الجديدة ـ موقف دُول حلف بغداد من الثَّورة ـ اجتماع لندن والاعتراف بالحُكُومة العراقيَّة الجديدة ـ نُوري السَّعيد…
