"الأرض تمتد أمام عينيها، ساعة الغسق، مثل بساط رمادي يشطر المدى جهتين. ونهار من جهة، وليل من جهة. يلتقيان في حدقة صافية كالنبع. وعلى ضفاف الحقول، هناك، تركض الأرواح الضالة باحثة عن مأوى. صيفاً بعد صيف، في مثل هذا الوقت، تمكث العجوز أمام بابها المفتوح، ترقب الطريق، وتُرضع الأفق كيف يبشرها بقدوم الأنبياء ما إن يشم شذى خطواتهم. صيفاً بعد صيف، تزركش شعرها الأبيض بالورود لئلا يمر الأبناء ولا يطرقوا باب نومها الطويل".
لحظات مرت في خياله أو أمام ناظريه، حفظتها ذاكرته، فعمد إلى رسمها بصورة قصائد قصيرة تغنى فيها بالطبيعة والأرض والإنسان ولم ينسى في خضم سرده أن يطل ولو بقصائد قصيرة على نفسه قارئ ذاتها وآهاتها.
