المجتمع البريطاني ليس مجتمعاً ملائكياً، فككل المجتمعات فيه الحسنُ والسيء فيه الصالح والطالح، لكن ما يُميزه من مجتمعاتنا العربية أن القوانين تطبق فيه بدرجة كبيرة، والنظام على مثالبه أجود من أنظمتنا بكل تأكيد، وهناك أمر مهم أن الإنسان يعيش إنساناً محفوظ الكرامة ما دام لم يتجاوز القانون.
كثيرون من أبناء البلدان العربية يعتقدون أن الغرب هو الشيطان الأعظم، فالإنحلال الأخلاقي والديانات المتعددة والحرية التي بلا قيود تجعل من الغرب مستنقعاً للفتن، وعلى النقيض تماماً هناك من أبناء لغة الضاد من يعتبر الغرب مضرب الأمثال في الحرية والكرامة الإنسانية ونظام الحكم الذي يحفظ للشعب حقوقه.
أنا هنا أكتب ذكرياتي بوصفي شخصاً عاش في بريطانيا وشاهد الكثير من الأمور التي أعجبته وتمنى أن يجدها في بلاده، كما حمد الله على أنه يعيش خارج بلاد الإنجليز لأمور وجدها خاطئة وغير منطقية.
ذكريات الأعرابي هي لكل مبتعث ولكل من سيعيش في الغربة لفترة محدودة، هي ليست تقييماً للعيش في بريطانيا وليست دليلاً سياحياً، هذه الذكريات حصيلة ما شاهدته في الغربة، ويبقى الصواب والخطأ له زوايا عديدة، كل واحد يستطيع النظر إلى الأمر من زاويته.
