Book Description
كان لقيام الدولة المملوكية في مصر في العصور الوسطى أهمية خاصة في تاريخ نظمها، وقد حكمتها من 648 إلى 923هـ (1250 - 1517)، أي زهاء ثلاثة قرون إلى وقت مجيء العثمانيين، وهي فترة تطورت خلالها النظم السياسية والاجتماعية تطوراً كبيراً. ثم إن من نظام هذه الدولة أن يكون حكامها وجيشها من الرقيق، وهو نظام لدولة لم يقم في أرجاء الدنيا إلا في ظل الإسلام، وليس له مثيل في خارج الإسلام، ولم يظهر بشكله هذا إلا في مصر.
كذلك ستظهر لنظم دولة المماليك في مصر تعبيرات اصطلاحية جديدة، تختلف كل الاختلاف عما عرفناه من قبل، وهي التي كان معظمها إلى وقتئذ عربياً فارسياً. وسنجد أن نظم دولتهم، ولو أنها قامت في مصر امتداداً لنظم سابقة، فإنها استوردت هي الأخرى نظماً جديدة. ومن قبل لاحظ مؤرخ اسمه السيوطي اختلاف نظم مصر في عهد المماليك عن ذي قبل، فقال إن السلطان بيبرس - واضع نظم دولتهم - أراد أن يسلك في تنظيم مملكته بمصر مملكة جنكز خان - وهي دولة المغول - فرتب في سلطنته أشياء كثيرة لم تكن قبله بمصر، وقد كان الترك مجاورين للمغول منذ القدم، بل إن المغول اعتبروا جنساً من الترك.
ولقد كانت كثرة المؤلفات المعاصرة عن المماليك في مصر مما جعل نظم دولتهم واضحة، بالنسبة لنظم أخرى ظهرت في تاريخ مصر أو في أي بلد إسلامي آخر، بحيث نستطيع أن نرسم لوحتها المميزة. وفوق ذلك، فإن هذا النظام المملوكي عاش في مصر، حتى بعد زوال دولتهم، إلى القرن التاسع عشر، حينما قضى عليه نابليون ومحمد علي باشا، بما يمكننا من أن نتعرف عليه عن قرب، ومع ذلك فبسبب أن بعض نظم دولة المماليك مستورد، فإنه لم يكن من السهل دائماً أن نتتبع أصول مصطلحاتها، أو حتى الوصول إلى نتائج حاسمة عنها، وأني لأدين بظهور هذا الكتاب لسفريات عديدة قمت بها وراء المخطوطات في مكتبات عواصم متعددة - لاسيما فرنسا - وهي كنوز تكشف عن أسرار نظم المماليك ورسومهم في مصر.
