"لم خلق الله إبليس وهو يعلم من هو؟ لم أدخله في جمع الملائكة وليس منهم؟ لم أمره بالسجدة وهو يعلم أنه لا يأتمر؟ لم لم يوقفه للسجدة وأغواه؟ لم لم يهلكه حين لم يسجد؟ لم أنظره إلى يوم يبعثون أو إلى يوم الوقت المعلومات؟ لم مكنه من بني آدم هذا التمكين العجيب الذي به يجري منهم مجرى الدم؟ لم أيده بالجنود من دخيل ورحل وسلطة على جميع ما للحياة الإنسانية به مساس؟ لم لم يظهره على حواس الإنسان ليحترز مسامه؟ لم لم يؤيد الإنسان بمثل ما أيده به؟ ولم لم يكتم أسرار خلقه آدم وبنيه من إبليس حتى لا يطمع في إغوائهم؟ وكيف جاءت المشافهة بينه وبين الله سبحانه وتعالى وهو أبعد الخليقة منه وأبغضهم إليه ولم يكن بنبي ولا ملك؟ فقيل بمعجزة وقيل: بإيجاد آثار تدل على المراد، ولا دليل على شيء من ذلك. ثم كيف دخل إبليس الجنة؟ وكيف جاز وقوع الوسوسة والكذب والمعصية هناك وهي مكان الطهارة والقدس؟ وكيف صدقه آدم وكان قوله مخالفاً لخير الله؟ وكيف طمع في الملك والخلود وذلك يخالف اعتقاد المعاد؟ وكيف جازت منه المعصية وهو نبي معصوم؟ وكيف قبلت توبته ولم يرد إلى مقامه الأول التائب من الذنب كمن لا ذنب له؟ وكيف؟ وكيف؟...".
أسئلة كثيرة يحاول هذا الكتاب الرد عليها حيث يستعرض بداية مفهوم الملائكة ومهمتهم، عالمهم، عبادتهم الله، فخافتهم من الله، مراتبهم، أوصافهم، من ثم يتوقف عند المراد بتسمية "جن" فيتحدث عن أنواع الجن، إسلامهم... بعد ذلك يعود للحديث عن إبليس، أوصافه، ولايته على الإنسان المنحرف، جنوده، اعتقاد الملائكة أن إبليس منهم، سر انحراف إبليس، لماذا سمي إبليس إبليساً؟ المجوسة من صنع إبليس، إبليس والأنبياء، اللقاءات الشيطانية، استراق الشياطين للسمع، المجتمعات الحيوانية، هل للحيوان حشر كما للإنسان؟ هل الحيوان تشعر؟ التفكير في خلق الحيوان، تناسخ بدن الإنسان مع الحيوان... الخ.
