لا شك أن المكتبة العربية كانت في أمس الحاجة إلى كتاب يضم أكبر مجموعة من الوحدات الزخرفية الإسلامية، وذلك أنني لمست احتياج السادة الزملاء مهندسي العمارة والديكور لمثل هذه الوحدات في مختلف التصميمات، وبوجه خاص في المشاريع ذات الطابع الإسلامي، لذلك فقد أخذت على عاتقي أعداد هذا الكتاب واخراجه إلى حيز الوجود منذ ان كنت طالباً في كلية الفنون الجميلة والذي يضم جزآن من اللوحات. الجزء الأول: أسس تصميم الوحدات الزخرفية الإسلامية: ويضم مائة وتسعون لوحة خطية متكاملة لأسس الوحدات الزخرفية الإسلامية، التي صممها مهندسو العمارة والديكور العرب ونفذها أمهر الحرفيين في الخشب والمعادن والجص والموازييك ومختلف الخامات، ورسمت خلال عصور إبداعهم الرفيع، والجزء الثاني: ويضم الوحدات من ص 191: ص 315 وهي تحتوي على أكثر من 1700 مثالاً لإستخدام هذه الوحدات ومثيلاتها في أعمال فنية موجودة بالقاهرة ودمشق وإيران والمغرب وأسبانيا وتتنوع هذه الأعمال بين الأبواب والشبابيك وتبليطات الرخام المطعم والأسقف والحفر على الخشب والزجاج الملون والتطعيم والتكفيت بالفضة والفيسفساء والأرابيسك ومختلف الأعمال.
