إن علم الكلام هو، بالدرجة الأولى، ثمرة التقاء العرب والفرس في رحاب الإسلام، ومجلى لثقافتهم ومعارفهم، ولحقيقة تعاملهم مع النصّ. ولقد ضمّن هذا الكتاب للقارئ وضوح التأثيرات الفارسية التي ساعدت على تشكّل علم الكلام، وإغناء مباحثه بالآراء المستمدّة من التراث الشرقيّ القديم. ولئن تعدّدت الدراسات الكلامية الحديثة، وجلت بعض العوامل المؤثرة، فإنها لم تتناول التأثيرات الفارسية، ولا أرجعت وفرة من الأفكار إلى أحد مصادرها الأصلية.
وبلا شك فإن هذا الإفضاء ناتج عن عدم معرفة الباحثين باللغة الفارسية وبتراث فارس. ولذلك قصّر الباحث دراسته في هذا الكتاب على دراسة هذه التأثيرات فجاء موفياً بهذا المعنى، كاشفاً عمّا كمن أو أشكل بالتغلغل في أعماق هذا التراث، والبحث في طواياه، وذلك لتمكين القراء من زاد معرفيّ ومنهجي تتأكد به معارفهم، وتزكو أنظارهم في مجال البحث في تاريخ الأفكار.
