شرّع الله الزواج بين الرجل والمرأة لعمارة الأرض ولكي يتحقق السكن والمودة بينهما وكذلك لإنجاب الذرية الصالحة حتى يستمر هذا الجنس البشري مثل بقية الأجناس الأخرى ولا يتعرض للانقراض. ومن أجل ذلك نلاحظ أن الرغبة الملحّة في الإنجاب قد أوجدها الله عند كل من الرجل والمرأة وجعل كل منهما يسعى إلى تحقيقها بكل ما يملك من مال وعلم، حتى يتحقق الأمل المنشود وهذه الفطرة التي فطر الله الناس عليها. فإذا لم يحدث هذا الأمل المنشود خلال السنة الأولى من الزواج فعلى كل من الزوجين أن يبحث عن سبب تأخير هذا الإنجاب عند الأطباء المتخصصين.
ومساهمة في توعية الأزواج يأتي هذا البحث حول عقم الرجال بين الإسلام والطب. وقد اقتصر المؤلف في هذا البحث حديث عن التركيب التشريحي للجهاز التناسلي الذكري بشكل مبسط لبيان وظيفة هذا الجهاز مع بيان قدرة الله سبحانه وكذلك يبين سبب الإنجاب أسبابه وعلاجه، ورؤية الإسلام للتلقيح الصناعي وطفل الأنابيب والتلقيح المجهري تحت الميكروسكون وكذلك بنوك الإنجاب. ليعقد من ثم مقارنة بين موقف الإسلام وموقف الغرب من الوسائل المختلفة للإنجاب وكذلك موقف كل من الإسلام والغرب من بنوك الإنجاب مستحضراً أمثلة على ذلك.
