خالد البسام كاتب ومؤرخ بحريني، ولد في عنيزة في تاريخ 18 نوفمبر عام 1956م. صدرت له الكثير من المؤلفات في تاريخ البحرين والخليج العربي، إضافة إلى إصدارات عديدة تنوعت بين الرواية وسير الأعلام والسياسة. وتوفي عام 2015م.

وهنا يطمح المؤلّف إلى أن يجعل عزفه المنفرد على آلة الكلام معراجاً يستطيع القارئ، من خلاله، أن يطلّ على الحياة، وأن يتلقّى سمفونيّتها التي يمتزج فيها الهمّ مع الطرب، والفرح مع السخرية.
إنّ هدف هذا الكتاب-كما يقول المؤلّف نفسه-هو أن يوصل القارئ إلى صفاء كالّذي توصله إليه الموسيقى، وإلى بهجة نأمل أن ينالها.
