كان الإسلام ولا يزال أهم العوامل المؤثرة في عملية تحديد أولويات السياسة الخارجية السعودية. فالمملكة العربية السعودية ومنذ نشأتها تعمل على حشد وتكريس قدراتها ومواردها وتسخيرها لخدمة قضايا العالم الإسلامي وتحقيق أسباب ترابطه وتضامنه استناداً إلى حقيقة الانتماء إلى عقيدة واحدة، وأن التكافل الإسلامي هم السبيل لاستعادة المسلمين لمكانتهم وعزتهم. وفي سبيل تحقيق التضامن الاسلامي سعت المملكة وبادرت مع شقيقاتها الدول الإسلامية بإقامة منظومة من المؤسسات الإسلامية الحكومية وغير لحكومية.
ويمكننا القول من خلال ما سبق أن المملكة العربية السعودية تنهض بدور فاعل في العالم الإسلامي سواء على المستوى السياسي أو الإقتصادي أو الإجتماعي وهو الأمر الذي فرضه تاريخ وواقع المملكة العربية السعودية على صعيد العالم الإسلامي. ومن ثم فإن هذا الكتاب هو محاولة متواضعة للتعرف على المملكة العربية السعودية عن قرب والبحث عن دورها في العالم الإسلامي على كافة الأصعدة. ومع السعي نحو تفعيل هذا الدور وتنمية ليكون على قدر الوضع الذي تحتله المملكة في قلب كل مسلم في شتى أرجاء المعمورة.
