في ميادين الأدب النضالي، الأدب الزاخر بالإيمان، النابض بالقوة والحيوية والإخلاص، لم يكن أبو الفضل الوليد أول "جندي مجهول"، ولن يكون الأخير. لقد ناضل بقلمه ولسانه، ناضل بقلبه وعقله ووجانه في سبيل العرب، ومن أجل عزة العروبة، وكان ذلك المجاهد للدنيا والدين، فما ساوم يوماً على عقيدته، ولا هو هاون خصوم قومه وأمته، بل قارعهم بالحجة والبرهان، بالمنطق والبيان، شعراً ونثراً، خطابة وتأليفاً، تحت سماء لبنان وفي أمصار الاغتراب، فبعث أمجاد العرب المنسية، ونشر صفحات مآثرهم المطوية، وتغنى بما تحلوا به من المروؤة والنجدة، من الأصالة والشرف، من الشمم والعنفوان، متحدثاً عن مكرماتهم، رافعاً رايات انتصاراتهم، داعياً إلى اتحادهم لاستعادة ما فقدوا من صولة وسلطان في تيارات التنابؤ والتفرقة والتناحر.
ولما سقط أبو الفضل في الميدان تعرض تراثه الفكري والأدبي لأفدح ما يمكن أن يتعرض له أصحاب الرسالات الصحيحة، إذ كادت مؤلفاته تضيع في ظلمة الإهمال والنسيان، وكاد ينطفئ ذلك المشعال الذي حمله منيراً متألقاً طوال أيام حياته. ولتفادي ذلك كانت المبادرة بإصدار هذه المجموعة من شعره مبوبة بحسب الموضوعات التي عالجها، ومنسقة على مناحي فكره وأسلوبه، وذلك ليطلع العرب، في مختلف أقطارهم، على ما نبض به قلب هذا الابن البار لأمته من المحبة الصادقة، وأن أبطال السيف والقلم من أبنائها يكفلون رفع راياتها خفاقة في كل زمان ومكان.
