يعد موضوع المصارف الإسلامية من الموضوعات الحديثة في العلوم المالية والمصرفية، حيث أصبحت هذه المصارف في ظل متطلبات العصر الحديث ضرورة إقتصادية لكل مجتمع إسلامي يرفض التعامل بالفائدة.
ورغم التحديات الجمة التي تعترض المعاملات المالية والمصرفية الإسلامية في الوقت الحاضر، إستطاعت هذه المؤسسات أن ترسي أسسها وتبني قاعدة راسخة في المعاملات المالية الدولية، إذ أصبحت المصارف الإسلامية أمراً واقعاً في الحياة المصرفية الدولية بعد أن شقت طريقها في بيئات مصرفية بعيدة في أسسها وقواعدها وآلياتها عن القواعد الإسلامية، وأثبتت هذه المصارف نجاحها في نظام رأسمالي سائد قامت فيه البنوك التقليدية على أساس واحد هو أسعار الفائدة.
ومواكبة لهذا الموضوع يسعى هذا الكتاب إلى بيان أهمية المصارف الإسلامية وآليات عملها، فضلاً عن بيان أهم صيغ التمويل الإستثماري فيها، بالإضافة بيان العلاقة بين المصارف الإسلامية وسوق الأوراق المالية، والتعرف على واقع المصارف الإسلامية في بعض البلدان العربية ومنها (الأردن والسعودية) من خلال مؤشرات أدائها المالي.
ولتحقيق تلك الأهداف تم تقسيم الكتاب إلى مقدمة وسبع فصول، تناول الفصل الأول منه المصارف الإسلامية من حيث نشأتها وأسسها النظرية، أما الفصل الثاني فتطرق إلى بيان البناء الهيكلي للأسواق المالية، في حين تناول الفصل الثالث منه المصارف الإسلامية والتحديات العالمية الجديدة، وقد جاء الفصل الرابع من الكتاب ليبين النشاط المصرفي الإسلامي في الأردن - النشأة والتطور - وقد خصص الفصل الخامس منه لعرض النشاط المصرفي الإسلامي في السعودية - النشأة والتطور.
أما الفصل السادس من الكتاب فقد تناول تحليل سوق الأوراق المالية في الأردن والسعودية للمدة (1990- 2007)، وقد ذهب الفصل السابع لقياس وتحليل أثر الأداء المالي للمصارف الإسلامي في مؤشرات سوقي الأوراق المالية الأردني والسعودي للمدة (1990- 2007).
