جمال محجوب (ولد في لندن سنة 1960) هو روائي سوداني بريطاني، يكتب بالإنجليزية، ويدور جانب كبير من أحداث رواياته في السودان.
حياته
ولد جمال محجوب سنة 1960 في العاصمة البريطانية لندن، من أب سوداني وأم إنجليزية. وعاشت أسرته حينًا من الزمن في مدينة ليفربول، ثم انتقل مع والديه وعاش فترة في الخرطوم درس أثناءها في معهد كمبوني للإخوة الإيطاليين، وحصل على منحة للدراسة الجامعية في أتلانتيك كوليج، ويلز، ثم درس الجيولوجيا في شيفيلد بإنجلترا، وتخرج مهندسًا جيولوجيًا.
انتقل محجوب إلى الدنمارك حيث عمل بإحدى جامعاتها، ثم إلى إسبانيا، ثم هولندا حيث استقر.
كتب محجوب أول رواياته في الثالثة والعشرين من عمره، لكنه لم يجد من ينشرها إلا بعد مرور ثلاث سنوات.

كما نشر محجوب عددًا من الروايات البوليسية تحت الاسم المستعار "باركر بلال".

السفر مع الجن، الكتاب الخامس لجمال محجوب، رواية رحلات طموحة، تأملية وأحياناً هزلية، ركزت على العلاقة الممتعة بين أب وابنه الصغير خلال رحلتهم في أوروبا بسيارة بيجو زرقاء فضية موديل 504، يكتشف الأب الراوي المولود بين الصدوع القارية والطبيعة في أوروبا أنه من "المطلعين" و"الدخلاء" بنفس الوقت.
ياسين ظاهر، رجل يحمل جوازي سفر ويتكلم بأكثر من لغتين، على وشك الطلاق من زوجته الانكليزية-الانكليزية ايلين. بتشجيع منها يمضي بعض الوقت مع ابنه ليو بينما تظل هي في الدانمارك تتبادل الأفكار مع أبناء عمومة بعيدين في الدانمارك، ينطلق ياسين وابنه ليو ذو السبع سنوات في رحلة تعليمية دافعها فيها الخوف من فقدان ولده.
ياسين الذي ولد في الخرطوم من أب سوداني وأم انكليزية في السابعة والثلاثين من عمره الآن، مجبر على مواجهة تعقيد أصوله ويصارع لاختيار الطريقة المناسبة لنقل هذا لابنه. عندما سأله ليو من هم العرب النهابين في الحروب الصليبية رد عليه الأب "إنهم.....نحن." حين مط ياسين رحلته من الدانمارك إلى ألمانيا ولوكسمبورغ وباريس وبروفانس ثم اسبانيا تخيل بأن تظهر الصحف بعنوان "متعصب إسلامي يخطف إبنه"
