يقول المؤلف بأن السيرة الشعرية للشاعر راشد بن إسحاق الكاتب " أبا حكيمة " والتي يدور حولها هذا الكتاب، لم تكن في نظرة سيرة إعتيادية ككل السير الشعرية التي مر لكتاب عليها في التاريخ الإسلامي من خلال التراث الأدبي، فهذه السيرة هي في رأيه خلاصة للسلوك التراجيدي الفارق في الحزن والألم، سطرت بنهج شعري مختلف، يراه بسهولة ووضوح تامين في قصائده. فراشد بن إسحاق الشاعر المتفوق تماماً في الفكر والنمط المتجاوزين للحالة العربية السائدة، خرج على قيم السائد الثقافي بكل جرأة وعلانية وبشجاعة قلما يرى مثيلها، ليكسر من خلال هذا الخروج رمز الفحولة المزعومة، بطريقة لم ينتهجها أحد. بهذا الزخم وهذا الثراء. ويتابع المؤلف قائلاً فيما قد يراه البعض، و أن النهج راشد بن إسحاق المغاير أسباباً ودوافع وربما منها أنه سلك هذا السلوك الشاذ بحثاً عن موطئ قدم بين شعراء عظام في عصره كالجندي وأبي تمام لأنه من غير ذلك سيفشل بينهم لا محالة. أو كأن يقول قائل ماذا سيخسر هذا الشاعر أو ذاك حينما يسلك طريقاً يشهر بها علة كي يشتهر، سواء أكان صادقاً أم غير ذلك وهو بالأخير شاعر مجهول الأصل والفصل. وينتهي المؤلف أنه وفي كلا الحالتين، فهو لا يرى أن هذا سيغير أصل ومعنى الحكاية لهذا الشاعر الإستثنائي. من هنا أقدم على سرد حكايته حكاية الشاعر الذي طرد فضيحته.
