يمتاز الاشتغال الفلسفي في كتابنا هذا بإشكالية العقل المادي الكامن في جوف النص الفلسفي الغربي، العقل المادي كمقولة معرفية تحوز على شرف السبق، وكمفهوم مركزي يتحكم في مسار العقل الغربي، ولا يكترث على الإطلاق بالمسائل التي يبحث فيها. ومنه يكون التساؤل المركزي والرئيس الذي يحوي في داخله هذه الإشكالية:
-كيف تعامل المسيري مع مفهوم العقل في الفلسفة الغربية المعاصرة؟ وهل بالإمكان ردّ هذا التعدد على مستوى النصوص الفلسفية إلى مقولة معرفية واحدة هي مقولة العقل المادي ؟ وهل يمكن الجزم مع المسيري أن العقل المادي هو المتحكم الوحيد في مسارات الفلسفة الغربية المعاصرة؟ وإذا كان للعقل المادي نتائج خطيرة على الفلسفة الغربية، فكيف نستطيع تلافي ذلك؟، و ما هو البديل المعرفي الذي اجتهد المسيري في الدعوة له، بحسبانه رؤية تجاوزية للعقل المادي؟
إن التعامل مع هذه الأسئلة، المنتظمة أصلاً في هاجس إشكالي هيمن على عقل المسيري ووجدانه، والذي عبّر عنه في نصوص متنوعة زاخرة، وغنية بمواضيعها وبتشابكها وتداخلها مع نصوص أخرى، يقتضي مني الالتجاء إلى استراتيجية: المـقـاربـة، التي أرى فيها الأسلوب الأكثر ملاءمة في التقرب من جوهر الرؤية المسيرية لمفهوم العقل، سواء أكانت رؤية نقدية تقويضية أو رؤية بنائية، تقوم بتحليل مكونات الإشكالية إلى عناصر محددة.
