لا تقوم العملية التربوية والتعليمية إلا على ثلاث دعائم أساسية وهي التلميذ والمعلم والكتاب: فالتلميذ هو الأساس وهو الهدف، والمعلم يقع عليه الدور الأول في إيصال الفكرة والمعلومة إلى الطالب بأبسط الطرق، أما الكتاب فهو الأداة التي تربط بين التلميذ والأستاذ وهو الوسيط بين الاثنين. ومن الملاحظ في المناهج التعليمية لمادة اللغة العربية أن هناك حصة تعطى للطلاب في الإنشاء العربي غير أن المناهج الحديثة لم تمدّ هذه الحصة بكتاب متخصص في هذا الموضوع؛ وهذا ما يجعل العملية التعليمية غير مكتملة لذلك عنى المؤلف إبراهيم شمس الدين بوضع هذا الكتاب الذي يحتوي على مجموعة من أساسيات ومبادئ البلاغة والبيان وعلومه مثل علم المعاني، وعلم البيان، وعلم البديع، وهذه المواضيع تعتبر في صلب مادة الكتاب وهو الإنشاء العربي. وقد قسم المؤلف الكتاب إلى قسمين أساسيين: القسم الأول: دراسة الجملة في ثماني عشر فصلاً، والقسم الثاني: في دراسة المفردات في ثلاثة فصول.
