مؤلف الكتاب رجل بيزنطى عاش فى رحاب الدولة العثمانية، وتولى بعض وظائف الحكم بها ويحكى قصة حصار القسطنطينية وفتحها، ويستمر فى رواية سيرة السلطان الفاتح حتى سنة ١٤٦٧، ولكنه يتوقف لأسباب غير معلومة بالحديث عن الوباء الذى حدث سنة ١٤٦٤م واستمر إلى سنة ١٤٦٧م.
الكتاب رواية شاهد عيان تحمل تفاصيل مهمة، والترجمة فى لغة سهلة وبسيطة. كتاب مهم للغاية.
